OpenVPN defaults to renegotiating keys every 3600 seconds (1 hour), possibly to mitigate some attacks such as Sweet32 on 64-bit block sized ciphers such as Blowfish, which is the default cipher. Unless the reneg-sec 0 directive is specified to disable time-based renegotiation, it will renegotiate the keys.
But even so, using that .ovpn file my Android client (OpenVPN Connect) does not connect at all. It increases the "Bytes out" but "Bytes in" remains zero (0) all the time until it disconnects with a timeout ("OpenVPN Connection Timeout"). I've noticed that for a road warrior connecting into my OpenVPN server the connection will drop after about 1 hour of inactivity. Is there a command I can use to prevent this idle dropout? I do already have resolve-retry infinite in my client config. Wasca. Reply Quote 0.
